This home balances old and new, introducing playful elements, techniques, and materials into an otherwise traditional architectural framework. A symmetrical exterior with classic gables and dormers is reinterpreted through a restrained palette of painted brick, slate roofing, and natural wood accents. Inside, warm wood flooring, exposed beams, and expressive marble surfaces create a rich, tactile experience. Thoughtful detailing elevates everyday spaces, where custom millwork and stone are both functional and sculptural. Large windows and aligned openings strengthen the connection to the surrounding landscape, while outdoor living areas extend the home beyond its walls. The result is a refined yet dynamic residence that blends tradition with innovation, grounded in material authenticity and careful craftsmanship.
Scenic Bay House

A renovation of a traditional bay house in Point Clear, AL features water front views and ample outdoor entertainment space to take advantage of all the bay has to offer. Interior and exterior upgrades transform this bay cottage into a full-time home, thoughtfully tailored to the owners’ needs. A natural, nautical-inspired palette runs throughout the residence, featuring wood grains, contrasting stone countertops, exposed brick, shiplap walls, and grasscloth finishes. An idyllic primary suite provides a serene retreat for daily living. The refreshed bay porch, with new floors, decking, and seating, celebrates outdoor living and stunning water views. Throughout, the renovation balances timeless architectural character with functional, family-focused upgrades, resulting in a home that is both elegant and effortlessly livable.

This contemporary residence conceived as a choreographed experience, where movement from arrival to event shapes the design. Recognized on Forbes’ America’s Top 200 Residential Architects list, the home is composed of a primary structure with two guest pavilions that frame a central courtyard oriented toward the bay. The entry sequence unfolds deliberately—moving from a more intimate threshold into an expansive, light-filled living space defined by large operable glass walls that open to the exterior.
Circulation is seamless and intuitive, guiding visitors through layered gathering spaces or to support both daily life and memorable shared experiences. Located in Orange Beach, Alabama, this modern waterfront home blends contemporary design with traditional coastal elements to create a grounded yet refined architectural expression. Elevated living spaces respond to the coastal setting, providing expansive outdoor terraces and shaded gathering areas that frame views of the surrounding landscape and water. Deep overhangs, exposed wood rafters, and light stucco walls establish a warm material palette that carries through the home’s interior and exterior spaces. Natural light and scenic views are drawn deep into the home through carefully placed openings and double-height volumes. Together, these elements create a serene coastal retreat that balances modern living with the relaxed character of the Gulf Coast.
