Connected Contrast

A new location for the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center is a landmark in Midtown, Atlanta, Georgia. The red steel cladding exterior, glazed core, and contrasting wings draw both visitors to Atlanta and the community to the new display of contemporary artworks. The art center neighbors on the same site with the North Avenue MARTA Station. A complex ramp system works as the primary circulation, featured in the central core of the structure. The ramp system weaves through gallery spaces to delivery visitors to events, classes, meetings, and a cafe on the top floor. The two wings provide two different experiences, as conveyed by their outer appearances, one as a bifurcated cube and one whole.
